Sun Allergy + Product Recommendations

larocheposay-notino

You were sunbathing and after that pimples, rash and itchy skin appeared? It’s most likely an allergy that appears on the skin as a reaction to excessive sun exposure – sun allergy.

Excessive exposure to harmful UV rays that penetrate deep into the skin and certain ingredients of cosmetics can cause sun allergies, the consumption of various medications also plays a role. Medications such as antibiotics, contraceptives, antihypertensive drugs increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun and can also add to the occurrence of sun allergies. On the other hand, we cannot avoid the sun because it provides us with vitamin D, which is needed for healthy bones.

How to prevent sun allergy or at least alleviate it if it occurs? In addition to daily application of products with a high protection factor every 2-3 hours and hydration of the skin after sunbathing, it’s desirable to fight from the inside too. Increase fluid intake in the summer months and consume foods that are high in calcium, selenium, zinc or beta carotene. I have been taking zinc and selenium vitamins for the last few months and this is certainly one of the reasons why this is the first year I haven’t gotten a sun allergy during my stay at the seaside.

Double Cleansing + Makeup Removing Products

avon-tolpa-garnier-notino

I’ve been practicing double cleansing for years now. That way I am sure I have removed all the makeup and impurities from my face at the end of the day. When the skin is well cleaned, all other skin care products work better and absorb into the skin with ease.

What exactly is double cleansing? The first step in double facial cleansing is to remove makeup with makeup removing products like oil balms, micellar water or milk. The second step is to wash the face with water based products which will further cleanse the face and prepare for the application of skin care. This method of facial cleansing removes all the layers of product you have on your skin, as well as the oil, dead skin cells and impurities that have accumulated on the skin throughout the day.doublecleansing

Artdeco: Perfect Teint Foundation & Setting Powder Compact

artdeco-notino-puderi

You must have noticed that in the last few months, I have talked more about preparative cosmetics than decorative cosmetics. Makeup is my first love and the reason why I started this blog at all, but over time I realized that skin care was equally important. I will do my best to keep an equal ratio of makeup and skincare on the blog in the future. Today’s post is all about Artdeco foundation and compact powder.

We all love a good foundation, don’t we? How to choose a proper liquid foundation at all? When choosing a foundation, pay attention to details such as texture, coverage, skin type and choose the right product accordingly. It’s not a bad idea to look for a review or video to see what that foundation looks like, and even better if the person reviewing the product has the same skin type as you. You can apply the same principle when choosing a foundation or powder shade.

Today I’m talking about two Artdeco products – a liquid foundation and a compact powder. Artdeco Perfect Teint Foundation in the shade 12 Soft Vanilla is a liquid oil-free foundation that has medium to high coverage. I’m very pale, especially in the winter, and this neutral shade is perfect for my skin tone. It covers the redness really well and evens out the complexion. It has a very liquid and dry texture and dries very quickly on the skin. The powder should be blended very quickly after application to the face as it dries very quickly and can no longer be handled when dried.artdeco-tekucipuder

FOREO LUNA mini 3 + Winter Skincare Routine

foreolunamini3-rutina

I want to share with you some of my skincare favorites that I use during these colder days. My skin is particularly sensitive to temperature change and cold weather so I have to give it a lot more attention than usual.

What can we do to protect our skin from external influences such as cold and dry air? Coldness and dry air, in my case, are often one of the main culprits of my skin being dried out in some parts. In addition to treating the skin from the outside, it is also important to bring nutrients into the body. So, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated on the inside and consume healthy foods and vitamins that will boost your immune system.

In winter months, my skin always needs special treatment. I often stay indoors where the air is so dry and this does not suit my skin. My protective skin barrier is compromised at times and I have to work on upping my hydration level. I have my skin care routine ready with FOREO and other proven products to help keep my skin in good shape during this cold period.

Current beauty favorites

In addition to the products I mentioned on my blog and Instagram, I often use some other products that I have not yet been able to write about. Mostly, those are products that are great for me now while it’s cold but I’m not sure how will they act in the spring or summer.

-BALEA MARIGOLD CREAM, 250 ml-

Excellent cream for dry and cracked skin, I usually use it for foot care. It is very greasy and harder to rub in because of it, but it really saved me this winter. Sometimes I put it on my hands if I’m very dry and on other dry areas like elbows and knees. I do not know if I will use this product in the summer because I don’t like using anything greasy when it’s warm, but during the cold days it does the job properly. It has a very intense smell, it initially annoyed me, but now I’m already used to it.

-THE ORDINARY, 100% PLANT-DERIVED SQUALANE, 30 ml-

Whoever invented this product is a genius. I’m using the Squalane the whole winter hard and my skin is very soft and nurtured because of it. In the last few days I had a cold and the skin on my nose cracked from too much nose blowing (you already know how it goes). This miraculous product was the only product that did not burn my skin and irritated the already irritated area. I’ve already written about it, you can read it here.

The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Face Cream

theordinary

The face cream I currently like to use is The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. This is a cream with hyaluronic acid and various amino acids, it protects the skin barrier and moisturizes the skin very well. It also contains urea and glycerin, ingredients that give the skin moisture and promote skin hydration.

I like to use it in the morning, it absorbs very quickly and prepares the skin for applying makeup. It makes a really nice and non-oily base for liquid foundation, it leaves no residue on the skin and it’s completely unnoticeable. The skin looks and feels moisturized. It’s an oil-free formula, but it doesn’t mattify the skin – it leaves a light glow on the skin. The formula looks thick, but when in contact with the skin, it turns into a light and creamy, easy to apply texture.moisturiser

EcoTools Start The Day Beautifully Makeup Brushes

ecotools-notino

Today I’m talking about the EcoTools makeup brushes set which contains five makeup brushes and a brush holder. Each brush is very multifunctional and it’s possible to create an entire makeup look with only these five brushes.

This is an EcoTools Start The Day Beautifully set of brushes made from bamboo, recycled aluminum and plastic. All products of this brand are vegan and cruelty free and can be recycled, which is a big plus for the environment and animals. Makeup brushes come in a storage container, there’s also a card with three makeup looks that can serve as an inspiration.

-Full Powder Brush-

It’s intended for the application of powder products such as setting powder, blush and bronzer. The hairs are soft and thick, picking up the full pigmentation of the product that is applied to the face. The brush blends the product very nicely, leaving no harsh lines on the skin.

Missha UV Pore Blur Starter SPF50+

I started researching Korean cosmetics more and more, and one of the brands I decided to try was Missha. Today I am writing about one product of this brand that has absolutely delighted me, I will tell you that right away.

I’m talking about Missha UV Pore Blur Starter SPF50 + PA ++++, a primer that blurs the pores and mattifies the skin, it also acts like a sunscreen. It really does what it promises – it fills the pores and mattifies the face, while protecting against the harmful rays of the sun. This is the only SPF product that I have tried that it doesn’t look oily on the skin without even a slight shedding after application.

La Roche-Posay Deodorant & Thermal Water

larocheposay-deo

During these winter months, I am always reaching for gentle and nourishing products, both on my face and body. So this time I decided to try out whether aluminum-free deodorant really works and whether thermal water can improve skin condition.

For ease of use, I prefer spray deodorants so this time I chose La Roche-Posay Physiological spray deodorant. It is designed for sensitive skin and it contains no aluminum, alcohol or parabens.

Instead of aluminum, this deodorant is enriched with magnesium oxide, which has four times the absorption power and is highly effective in neutralizing odors.larocheposay-sensitivedeodorant

Real Techniques Sponge Comparison

rt-spuzvice

Apart from the Beauty Blender sponge, Real Techniques sponges are one of the most popular makeup application tools on the market. I have been using RT sponges for over a year now and they are really number one if you want a natural looking foundation on your face.

I must have said this several times, I was a strict advocate of brushes before I’d tried the Real Techniques sponge. I loved my brushes and I rarely used anything else other than them. I still like to use brushes today, but most of the time I am in a hurry and don’t have time for the whole procedure of using the sponge.

Today I’m going to compare the Real Techniques Original Collection Base large sponge and the Real Techniques Original Collection Finish mini base sponge. Both sponges are made from the same foam material, and the only difference is in size and purpose. After washing, the sponges should be well drained so they do not absorb the product you are going to be applying.
